Dear Varu,
I wish I had time to write you a longer post but, as you know, our days and nights are filled right now with taking care of Vishva. I barely get any time with him not on me and when I do, I’m trying quickly to eat, do some laundry, or take a little nap. But I wanted to write a short note because this is a very special anniversary. We are celebrating our third anniversary by becoming a family of three. I know there has been some back and forth about who he looks like, but the truth of the matter is that he is a perfection combination of us both. With him, we have solidified our union is a more permanent way and that feels really special and…sacred?
The last couple of weeks postpartum have tested our relationship though. Lack of sleep, stress from the parents, etc. has made us impatient and a little testy with each other. Luckily we both are aware of our emotional state and have been able to let things go as quickly as they have come. For our third year of marriage, then, this is my wish for us –
May we always be gentle with each other and easy to forgive.
May we practice compassion by trying to understand where the other person is coming from.
May we continue to prioritize our relationship and value each other.
May we learn to be more assertive and create boundaries that help to protect our family and help us to create the kind of life we want to live.
Above all, may we never forget to be vulnerable, open, and honest with each other.
I love you so much. Thank you for making me so happy and filling my days with joy.
Happy third anniversary my love. Here’s to many, many more.
Love,
Prea
